  1. The stars watch over all
  2. coldly indifferent to everything
  3. their apathy casting a cold glow across this mortal earth
  4. emotionless and eternally still in the heavens
  5. love, humor, irony
  6. all this is loss on them
  7. Somewhere off in the distance a woman cries
  8. a young widow that has buried her children
  9. and watched as her husband left forever
  10. she survives on a hand to mouth existence
  11. doing whatever she needs to so that she won't starve
  12. and her soul burns with a quiet strength
  13. her will is strong and resolute
  14. But all this means nothing to the stars
  15. her cries fall on deaf ears
  16. her plight is lost on them
  17. and the stars watch on
  18. Somewhere off in the distance a man laughs
  19. sitting atop a rich financial empire
  20. an empire made on the backs of the poor
  21. drinking wine from a fine crystal glass
  22. dining with a woman as cold as he
  23. he has stepped over endless people 
  24. all while climbing up
  25. and has only looked back to spit on them
  26. But still the stars are unmoved
  27. his ruthless heart means nothing to them
  28. his life of sin is met only with indifference
  29. and the stars watch on
  30. Somewhere off in the distance a boy dances 
  31. holding his angel close to him
  32. murmuring sweet nothings in her air
  33. softly caressing her delicate lips
  34. his soul filled with nothing but love
  35. his eyes glowing with delight
  36. for him heaven is where his angel is
  37. and nothing could ever be better
  38. But the stars could care less
  39. his love is nothing to them
  40. his angel nothing as well
  41. and the stars watch on
  42. Watching with a cold gaze
  43. not caring whether the woman succeeds 
  44. not caring whether the man steps over hundreds more
  45. not caring whether the boy will stay with his angel
  46. for this is their nature
  47. this apathy is all they know
  48. and for now and forever more
  49. all they will do is watch.
